The striped bass fishing is just fantastic right now. We are limiting out on most of our trips and throwing back keepers as well as short bass. Bluefish are starting to show in great numbers, but are not being a pain as of yet. The fluke fishing is off to a good start, but the 21" size limit is a tough one. Plenty of fish being caught, but not too many staying in the boat. Commercial rod and reelers have been catching plenty of fluke since the beginning of May. I still think the 21" size limit is going to be a chore and challange. Sea bass and scup are starting to bite too while we are fluking. Hopefully the sea bass and scup get bigger this year. Last year we had plenty of small sea bass and scup as well as the just made it keepers. I like to catch the 3+ lb. sucp and sea bass.
Night bass fishing has been pretty good, with only a few dogs to tangle with. Many anglers are having a ball with the eels and bass at night.
Good news on the tuna front...NMFS has just changed their minds and given recreational anglers another fish. We were only allowed 1 fish over 27" in the beginning of 2009, but now they have raised the limit to 1 fish over 27" and 1 fish over 47". WOW !!!! Are they generous : (
Shark fishing has been very productive lately. Plenty of blue sharks around in the waters South, but not too many mako's or threshers around.
Don't forget to give me a call if you want to plan a great fishing trip, either with the guys, family, or whoever you like. We are always ready to have a good time out on the water and catch some great fish with you.
